Thermal Crochet Dishcloth (Dishcloth Series #4)
Here it is - the FOURTH dishcloth in the summer dishcloth series. Actually this
week's pattern is two patterns in one. I have created two separate posts because
each pattern includes a photo tutorial and I didn't want the posts to get super
long.
In this post, I will show you how to do the thermal single crochet to make a soft
and squishy dishcloth (or facecloth) with a ton of texture. The second post
(the Two Color Thermal Dishcloth) will show you how to make a similar
dishcloth using two colors, one on each side. While it is the same basic
stitch, do to the two color version requires a variation on the stitch to
work the two color design. All of these stitches are helping prepare you for
the final dishcloth in the series (actually two variations like this one) to
come out next week. If you are new to the thermal single crochet, I
recommend that you start here and learn the basic stitch before moving on to
the two color version.
To make this dishcloth, you will need some Lion Brand Comfy Cotton Blend (7
oz./200 g; 392 yds./ 358 m). For the picture above I used #718 Mai Tai and
#125 Mochaccino. You will also need a size L/11 (8.00 mm) crochet hook.
Continue on to the photo tutorial below to get started.
If you would like to purchase the ad-free, printable pdf to help support my
design work, you can find this pattern together with the two color version on
Etsy.

Step 2: Holding your chain with the back bump facing down, single
crochet into the front loop (bottom loop) only of the second chain from your
hook. You will be working into the other loop on Row 2. Continue across the
row, working one single crochet in each front loop. Turn.
Step 3: Do NOT chain 1 to turn. Insert your hook, from the bottom up,
into the unused loop from the foundation chain directly below the first
single crochet. Then insert hook into the front loop only of the first sc.
Sc in these two loops. Continue across the row in the same fashion, working
into the loop below and the front loop of each sc. Turn.
Step 4: Do NOT chain 1 to turn. Sc in unused loop from sc below
first sc and flo of first sc. Sometimes this first stitch is a little hard
to find. Continue across the row in the same fashion, working into the
loop below and the front loop only of each sc. Turn.
When you get to the end of each row, don't miss the last stitch. The first
and last stitches in the row are the hardest to see.
Step 5: Repeat Step 4 for 44 rows. For last row, work each single
crochet into the loop below and BOTH loops of each single crochet.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
(Ignore the hook size in this image. I started working a dishcloth
for this tutorial, and then realized it was coming out too small.)
Now that you know how to work the thermal single crochet stitch, follow
the written pattern below.

Gauge
Gauge is not important for this project, but if you want your dish cloth

Instructions are written using standard US abbreviations.
Ch - chain
